During a public address last night at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government forum, Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, showcased his affinity for literature as a former West Point instructor in the English Department. Among the books he mentioned were Stephen Greenblatt’s “The Swerve,” Thomas Friedman’s “The World is Flat” and Charles Dickens’ “A Tale of Two Cities.” Here’s a link to the American Forces Press Service article (http://www.defense.gov/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=67921) and the story posted on the Harvard Crimson website (http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2012/4/13/iop-forum-geopolitical-stability/).
